How to Set Up a Garmin City Select Map
The Garmin GPS (global positioning system) device incorporates files from the coordinating MapSource software, which features the City Select map. City Select has been discontinued by Garmin, but it was a version of MapSource that contained full coverage of the chosen region (like North America, Europe, etc.), along with detailed maps and millions of points of interest for the traveler. MapSource City Select was sold as a DVD with Garmin units.

Transfer the selected map data to your Garmin. Click "Send to Device" in the MapSource window. Under "What to Send," select the boxes next to the data, then click "Send." Once the data transfer is complete, click "Turn off GPS After Transfer." Your Garmin shuts down, so disconnect it from the computer.
