How do I Clean an Alltra Plasma Table?

A clean plasma cutting table will reduce the chances of serious accidents.

Alltra plasma tables are tables used in plasma cutting. A plasma cutter uses gasses and electricity to cut through various materials. The waste left from plasma cutting is not something that can be swept up and can be dangerous if left out. This is why it must be dealt with in a specific manner.

Things You'll Need

• Vacuum
• Clean or new vacuum bags
• Alcohol
• Spray bottle
• Towel or rag

Instructions

1. Review the types of materials you normally cut. If all the materials you cut only produce dust, you do not need to install a large sophisticated system to keep the table clean.

2. Clean the table with a mixture of equal parts water and alcohol after you have finished working. Make sure you have vacuumed the table before using the mixture. Spray the table with a layer of alcohol and water, and then wipe it down to clean the table.

3. Wipe down the exterior components of the machine with the alcohol and water mixture. Dials, toggle switches and buttons can be easily cleaned with the alcohol mixture. The display screen can be cleaned with any electronics screen cleaner.

4. Check the table for debris and dust before and after you use the table. Use a vacuum or dust collector with a new or clean bag. Dump or dispose of the bag after each use.

5. Utilize dust collectors. Dust collectors are vacuum devices that store dust and particles in a specially designed bag. This pulls the dust away from the table reducing the chances of the duct igniting. The dust collector should be turned on whenever the plasma cutter is in use.

6. Install grates. Grates are installed into or below the plasma table to pull molten metals off the table. When the molten metal is produced, it is sucked into the crate and stored in a storage bin or tank. These crates use suction to pull dust and smoke away from the cutter and a filter removes all particles from the air.

7. Clean the table with a mixture of equal parts water and alcohol after you have finished working. Make sure you have vacuumed the table before using the mixture. Spray the table with a layer of alcohol and water, and then wipe it down to clean the table.

8. Let the table air dry completely before turning the cutter on again. This will take 30 minutes to one hour.
