Brother Intellifax 2920 Troubleshooting
The Brother Intellifax 2920 sends and receives faxes and produces copies from original documents. As with any device, you may encounter errors either with the Intellifax 2920's software or hardware. Many times the device will display an error message on its display screen, giving you an idea of what has gone wrong with the machine. By troubleshooting any situation that you run across, you may be able to fix the problem yourself.

Paper Jams

Pull the paper tray out of its slot in the device, removing it completely. Pull out any paper left inside the tray's opening.

Fold down the front cover on the device and pull out the print cartridge assembly. Remove any paper stuck in the print cartridge assembly and the area where the assembly sits inside the device.

Fold down the device's back cover. Pull down on the tab on the right-hand side inside the device, folding down the rear chute cover.

Push down on the tab as you pull any stuck paper out of the inside of the device. Close the device's back cover, which will close the rear chute as well.

Slide the print cartridge assembly back inside the device and fold the front cover up and closed.
"Unit is Too Hot" Error

Turn off the fax machine by pressing the "Power" button. Move the device from its location if the area is too warm, such as near any other devices or machinery that generate heat.

Turn on the air conditioning in the room where you have been using the device. Turn the temperature setting on the air conditioning down if it is already on, allowing the room to cool down before continuing.

Press the "Power" button to turn the device back on, and let it sit for 5 minutes or more. Listen for the device's fan to turn on and make sure nothing is blocking the device's vents.

Turn off the device and use a vacuum cleaner to clean dust buildup from the vents. Turn the device back on, and let it sit for at least 5 minutes to see if the error message appears again.

Take the device to a service shop if the error message appears again.
