How to Share Audio on Facebook

Facebook offers quick video sharing, but audio files are not supported as of September 2010. In order to share an audio recording on Facebook, users must create a link to the audio file. Audio files can be stored on the Internet at various free-use websites. Once the audio file is uploaded, links can be shared to Facebook users with an integrated audio player.

Things You'll Need

• Audio-file-sharing website
• File conversion software, if applicable

Instructions

1. Convert the audio file. If audio was recorded on a mobile phone or device, conversion software is required to create a file compatible with most audio-file-sharing websites. One such software is Mobile Media Converter, a free software that converts mobile files. The software is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

2. Upload the audio file to a sharing website. Entertonement is an audio-sharing website that allows users to upload, store and share audio files for free (See References). The service is free. After uploading the audio file, a link will be available for sharing on Facebook.

3. Log into Facebook and share the audio link. Audio links created by Entertonement allow in-line audio file playing. When a link is added to any Facebook status, an audio player is published for friends, family and visitors to listen to the audio file.

4. Upload to an alternative website. Some blogging software or platforms like Wordpress allow audio uploads. The files are stored on a website server. Links to the audio files are available for sharing on Facebook in the same manner as Entertonement files.

Tips & Warnings

• Facebook followers without computer speakers will not be able to hear the audio.

• Files should never be shared with unsecure websites.
