Windows XP laptops can be rebooted in a variety of ways.

When your Windows XP laptop doesn't perform as it should, it needs to be rebooted, otherwise known as restarted. The rebooting process is made simple in Windows XP. There are many different ways to reboot your computer and each way will only take a few seconds to accomplish. Make sure that you have saved your information before rebooting because any unsaved information will be lost once it starts.

      Select "Start" in the bottom left corner of the screen. Select "Shut Down." A screen will pop up asking you what you want to do. Select the "Restart" option.

      Another reboot option would be to press the three-key combination of "Control," "Alt" and "Delete." The screen will go blank for a second and a new Windows screen will appear. Select "Task Manager." In the Task Manager, select "Shut Down" at the top of its screen, and click on "Restart," which will immediately restart your computer.

      A third option is to hold down the power button until the lights and screen turn off. This forcefully turns the system off. Wait 45 seconds, then press the power button again.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are rebooting because of a virus problem, try removing the virus with an anti-virus scanner.
