How to Make Seed Bead Baskets
Seed beads are beads that come in different sizes and colors and can be used to make different crafts, such as jewelry, key chains and even baskets. If you are interested in a seed basket for yourself or as a gift you can purchase one. However, if you prefer, you can make your own for little money and effort. The benefit of making your own is it allows you control the bead colors, size and the size of the finished product.

1
Feed eight size 11 seed beads onto a three foot piece of fishing line. You can use all one color beads or a variety. If using a variety, try grabbing beads randomly and not following a pattern. Move the beads to one end of the fishing line so there is just four inches of line sticking out on one end and the rest of line on the other end.
-
2
Tie the loose ends of fishing line together so that the first and last beads are close together and the beads now form a circle. Pass the long end of fishing line back through the center of each bead in the circle. This will increase the strength of your basket.

3
Feed two more seed beads onto the long piece of fishing line. Pass the end of the fishing line through the closest seed bead on the first row. The closet seed bead is the one that is against the first of the two new beads you added.

4
Feed one seed bead onto the long piece of fishing line. Pass the end of the fishing line through the closet seed bead on the first row. This time the first seed bead is the one that is closest to your newly added bead.
-
5
Repeat Steps 3 and 4, continuing around the original ring of eight seed beads, until you have a second full circle. Pass the loose end of your fishing line back through the center of each of the beads in the second row. Pull the line tight. By pulling your line tight, you will be able to build upwards instead of just outward.
-
6
Continue to make rows of seed beads following the previous method until you have your basket as tall as you would like it.
-
7
Feed the remaining loose end of the fishing line through the center of the last row of beads, pulling it tight one more time.
-
8
Feed seed beads onto the loose end of the fishing line. This will create your basket handle. The length of the handle depends on the size basket you created. Feed the remaining end of the fishing line through a seed bead opposite of the beginning of the handle. Tie a knot in the end of the fishing line to secure it.
-
9
Use scissors to remove any remaining fishing line to finish your basket.
