Register for a PayPal account at PayPal.com. You will need to provide your name, email address, mailing address and phone number and select a password.

Select the payment method you prefer to fund your account, and confirm your identity. You can add your bank account or your credit card information. If providing a bank account, you will need to have your routing number.

Confirm the account you add. If you are using a credit card, PayPal will charge $1.95 to your card. Along with the transaction, you will see a four-digit code. Return to PayPal and click on the "profile" tab. You will need to select Credit/Debit cards. Click "confirm my card" to enter the code. Once the code is successfully entered, your card will appear as "confirmed." The transaction will be refunded to your credit card with 30 days. If confirming a bank account, PayPal will make a small deposit into the account. You can contact your bank to obtain the exact payment amount or visit your bank online to instantly confirm the account.

Add a credit card to an existing PayPal account by logging into your account. Click on the profile tab at the top of the page. You will see "credit/debit cards." Click on this, and a menu will appear. Then click "add a card." Enter your credit card information and click "add card" to save the information and keep your card on file.

Confirm the credit card before it can be used. Return to the card section of PayPal and click "confirm my card." Within a couple business days, the transaction will appear on your card with the code to confirm. Enter the code, and your card will be linked to the account. The charge will be credited to the credit card.
