How to Add Remote Access Users to a Windows 2000 Server

Windows 2000 Server powered computers support the Remote Desktop Connection program, which lets people connect remotely to the server over the Internet from their own computers. Before a user can connect to the Windows 200 Server, though, the server must have Remote Desktop enabled so that the server can accept any incoming requests. Once this is setup, any user on the server can connect to it through Remote Desktop.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Windows 2000 Server computer locally.

    • 2

Open the server's Start Menu, right-click "My Computer" and select the "Properties" option.

    • 3

Click the Remote tab in the System Properties window that appears.

    • 4

Check the option "Allow users to remotely connect to this computer."

    • 5

Click "Select Remote Users," type in the username of the account that you want to add to the remote access list, then click "Add" and "OK."
