How to Write a Thank You for a Baby Shower

Send out thank you cards to your guests to show your appreciation.

When you receive gifts at your baby shower, you need to send thank you cards to the guests. You also need to thank the host of the baby shower. After the baby shower ends, you need to mail or hand deliver the thank you cards at least two to three weeks after you receive the gifts. Instead of sending a generic thank you card, proper etiquette suggests that you hand-write each one with a personalized message.

• Pen
• Envelopes (if your cards don't come with them)

Instructions

1. Locate baby shower thank you cards that have a blank area for you to write a message. Select cards that match the theme of the shower or the invitations.

2. Look through the gifts and assign names to each one. Write down a list of names with their corresponding gifts, so you can cross each guest off the list as you go along. This will help you to prevent forgetting anyone.

3. Hand-write the message inside the card with a pen. Avoid printing the card from the computer because this will look impersonal.

4. Write the guest's name at the top of the card. You can start the message out with "Dear Melissa" or you can simply just write "Melissa," at the top left side of the card.

5. Include a message that states your gratitude for the gift. This message might state "Thank you so much for the pack of diapers," or "I am really grateful for the car seat you purchased."

6. Include a message about how you plan to use the gift. This will let the guest know that the gift they selected will be put to good use. Write a message like "I plan to place the hand-knitted blanket in the baby's crib" or "The baby diapers will help me out a lot financially." Avoid sounding phony in the message, and try to write a message form the heart, even if you do not plan to keep the gift.

7. Write a message at the end to thank each guest for coming to the shower. This will ensure the guests that you appreciated their presence at the shower and will let them know how much it meant to you.
