How to Make an Easy Baby Diaper Cake
Diaper cakes consist of rolled diapers that are arranged to resemble a cake. The rolled diapers are decorated with ribbon and items that the new parents can use for the newborn. The diaper cake also serves as a centerpiece for a baby shower. You can have the guests decorate the cake with small items that they can hide between the layers of diapers. - Narrow ribbon
- Scissors
- 75 newborn diapers
- Baby bottle
- Cake platter
- Rubber bands
- 1½- to 2-inch thick ribbon
- 8 oz. baby shampoo or powder
- Travel-sized baby items
- Spoons
- Baby socks
- Receiving blankets
- Bibs
- Stuffed animals
- Pacifiers

Cut the narrow ribbon into 12-inch sections. You will need a piece of ribbon for each rolled diaper and each circle of diapers for the three-tier cake.

Place a baby bottle in the center of the cake platter. Roll six of the newborn diapers from the front of the diaper to the back. Secure each baby diaper with a piece of the cut narrow ribbon.

Stand the diapers around the baby bottle. Place a rubber band around the diapers to secure them to the bottle.

Form a second ring of rolled diapers around the baby bottle. You will place 15 rolled newborn diapers around the ring of six diapers. Wrap a large rubber band around the diapers to finish the second ring.

Create a third ring of rolled diapers around the first two rings. This ring will consist of 25 rolled baby diapers. After you stand them around the second ring, you will use a thick piece 1½- to 2-inch ribbon to secure them in place. You will need enough excess ribbon to tie a large bow in the front.

Create a second tier for the diaper cake. The second tier will consist of one ring of six diapers and a second ring of 15 diapers. The inside ring will need held together with a rubber band, and the outside ring will need secured with a thick piece of ribbon that you will tie in a bow.

Place the second tier on top of the first tier. The second tier will cover the rest of the baby bottle.

Sit an 8 oz. bottle of shampoo or baby powder on top of the second tier. You will need to place it in the center in the same location as the baby bottle. Place six diapers around the item, and secure them in place with the thick ribbon. Tie the thick ribbon into a bow.

Decorate the baby shower diaper cake with items that the parents can use for their newborn. Place travel sized baby items on top of the tiers. You can also tuck items between the tiers and behind the thick ribbon. Items that work well for decorating the diaper cake include baby spoons, socks, receiving blankets, bibs, stuffed animals and pacifiers.
