Quartet is among a number of product lines manufactured under the umbrella of ACCO Brands, which includes Swingline, AT-A-GLANCE, Five Star and Mead, among others. Quartet makes glass dry erase boards and melamine whiteboards in a variety of styles and sizes, many of which can be wall-mounted for ease of use.

Consider Weight and Dimensions When Mounting

One of Quartet's smallest dry erase boards is a 24-inch by 36-inch melamine board with aluminum frame. The board's light weight and modest dimensions make the mounting process manageable for one person. Larger, heavier dry erase boards, especially the glass whiteboards, may require two or more people to install successfully. Mounting hardware must be appropriate for the size and weight of Quartet dry erase board installation.

Free-Standing vs. Wall Mount Options

In addition to manufacturing various sizes of dry erase boards, Quartet also has free-standing and wall-mounted options. Free-standing boards are secured inside an aluminum frame. They can be moved easily from one location to another. Specialized hardware lets you tilt the board for better viewing and even flip it so you can use the second side.

Wall-mounted options are best if you want a dry erase board in a permanent location such as a meeting room or classroom. No floor space is required. Although there are a few steps required for mounting, once the dry erase board is attached to the wall, you do not have to worry about moving it to where it's needed.

Using Wall Anchors

Quartet dry erase mounting instructions suggest using wall anchors when securing a whiteboard to a very hard or hollow surface. A wall anchor provides strength and stability when a wall screw cannot stay firmly in place on its own. Various sizes of anchors are available, each rated to hold a certain amount of weight.

To be on the safe side, it is recommended that you choose a wall anchor rated to hold four times the weight you want it to hold. For example, if a small dry erase board weighs 5 pounds, choose a wall anchor rated to hold 20 pounds. Heavy items will need multiple anchors at various points along its borders.

Positioning the Dry Erase Board

Determine the height at which you want to hang the whiteboard. Using a pencil, mark the point with a small x. Measure the distance between the two eyelets on the back of the board. Measure from eyelet center to eyelet center.

Position a handheld or laser level on the x that you made to mark the height of the board. Using the edge of the level or the laser line, draw a line. Make a small x on the line marking the position of each eyelet center.

Installing Wall Anchors and Screws

Use a drill to create holes at each x for the wall anchors. Once you've made a hole, you should be able to push the anchor in with your fingers until it is flush with the wall.

Use the drill to drive screws into the wall anchors, leaving one-eighth to one-quarter inch of the screws exposed to receive the eyelet. The plastic wall anchors widen when the screws are inserted, securing them in the drywall.
