The Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet 4345 is a multifunction printer that includes a scanner, copier, fax machine and printing capabilities. The device produces black-and-white documents, interfaces with computer networks and works with Windows and Mac systems. Like other HP LaserJet printers, the HP LaserJet 4345 contains a hard drive that stores print and scan jobs for future printing and processing. When problems arise, including error messages indicating a hard drive error or that the drive is not working properly, you can initialize the hard drive and return it to a working state.
Turn your HP LaserJet 4345 printer off and on again by pressing the "Power" switch on the front of the printer to the "Off" position, then "On."
Press the right side of the "Start" button when the "Memory Count" appears on the printer's display. Release the "Start" button when all three LED lights on the printer are lit.
Press the "5" key on your printer's keypad. The wording "Initialize Disk" will appear on your HP 4345's display.
Press the "6" key on your printer's keypad. The initialization process will begin and a series of asterisks will appear on your HP 4345's display.
The word "Ready" will appear when the process is complete.
