Decorate the table where the guest book will be displayed.

Guest books are a traditional part of many weddings, funerals and other ceremonies. They serve as a keepsake item and are made available to allow guests to express their personal messages, memories and signatures. Guest books come in a variety of forms, from an actual book with lined pages to a photo matte or ceramic plate.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine what style of guest book suits the occasion. If the occasion is a funeral, for example, a photo matte may not be the best choice for a guest book.

    • 2

Purchase the guest book from a retailer or make your own. You may choose a bound book with lined pages for signing, or you may choose a binder-style book with sleeves into which you can insert photo pages, cards, scrapbooking pages or other memorabilia. Make sure there are enough spaces for the number of guests attending the event.

    • 3

Set up a table near the entrance of the venue to display the book. A few pens should be placed next to the book for the guests.

    • 4

Decorate the table with the guest book. This is an added touch that will make the table stand out. It will also make the guest book easier to locate.

    • 5

Remind guests to sign the guest book. Even with the table embellishments, some guests may arrive late and forget to sign the book. A friend, relative or venue host can serve as the guest book attendant. The attendant should set up the guest book and decor and direct guests to sign. She should monitor the book for about an hour or two to make sure everyone has signed it, and she will also be responsible for packing up the book before leaving the venue.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't forget to have a friend, relative or parent pick up the guest book before leaving the venue.
