How to Record Your Greeting on a GE Portable Phone

Record a greeting on your answering machine.

A personal greeting on your GE portable phone's answering system lets people know that they have reached the right phone number and is a more casual way to ensure that people leave a message. Sometimes if you keep an answering machine's generic message people that you know will not leave a message. The GE portable phone's answering service can hold many messages.

Instructions

1. Turn the GE answering system that comes with your GE cordless phone on by hitting the "On/off" button. The answering machine light will display " - -" if the answering machine is off. It will display a "0" or the number of messages that you have on the machine if the answering machine is on.

2. Press and hold the "Announce" button on your GE cordless phone base unit until you hear a beep. Record the greeting that you would like your GE cordless phone's answering machine to play after the beep.

3. Press the "Announce" button on the base of the GE cordless phone to play back your greeting. If you are unsatisfied with the greeting, record another greeting by pressing down on and holding the "Announce" button until you hear a beep and talking again.

4. Press and hold the "Announce" button if you want to return to the original recorded voice message on the machine.
