How to Change Chinese Subtitles Into English Subtitles Using Real Media

Real Media offers a free application called "RealPlayer," which allows users to download, watch and share Internet videos. They also offer a player for $39.99 (as of 2010) called RealPlayer SP Plus, which includes a video converter and DVD burner. By setting the preferences in your RealMedia player, you can ensure that English subtitles are displayed on all content. If subtitles were displaying in Chinese, changing your Real Media preferences to English will display English subtitles, unless the person who created the video created it with Chinese-only subtitles.

Instructions

    • 1

Enable text captions and descriptive audio in your Real Player settings. Open Real Player and click on "Tools." From the "Tools" menu, click "Preferences." A "Preferences" box will open.

    • 2

Click "Content" from the "Category" menu in the Real Player preferences box. An option called "Accessibility" will appear. Select "Use supplemental text captioning when available" to enable subtitles to appear and, if you want to also have descriptive audio play when it exists, select "Use descriptive audio when available." Click "OK." If subtitles or descriptive audio does not play on a video, it means that the creator did not include them when making the piece.
