Needle in the hairline. Place the outlined wig cap on the wig block to begin the sewing and knotting. First start with the hairline; push the needle through the wig cap and make a loop in the hole with some hair strands. With the hair loop made, continue to pull the strands all the way through the loop to make a knot. Continue this process until you have finished making the hairline for the wig.

Apply an undercoat compound. The compound not only works to prevent shedding in wigs, but it also creates the look of hair growing from the scalp. Take the lace front off the wig block and with a damp brush, brush the underside of the wig. Allow the wig to dry for an hour and then apply a second coat of compound. Be sure not to let any hair pass through the wig at this time.

Apply the bonding. The bonding solution secures the wig for daily and extended wear use. Place the lace front on your head and pull up the undersides of the edges. Apply the bonding to the hairline of the wig and then press down firmly onto the scalp.
