How to Post a Page to My Domain Name thumbnail
Upload your web page to your web host via FTP.

To post a web page to your domain name you'll need to upload the .html file plus any images you created to your web host. Your domain name is hosted by your web hosting company, usually the same company that registered your domain name for you. You'll need to know your host's preferred upload method, and that information is found at your host's website. Nearly all web hosts allow FTP uploads. If you're using GoLive, Dreamweaver or other web design software, FTP software is built-in.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather your FTP login information from your web host. This includes the FTP address, your user name and your password. Check your web host's FAQ or Uploads page for your company's specific settings.

    • 2

Locate all the files that comprise the web page you want to post. If you're using a web design program, the program will place all your files in one project folder for you.

    • 3

Download FTP software if your web design program doesn't have one. There are many free and commercial programs available. Read reviews from trusted websites like CNET or PC Magazine and download from a reputable website.

    • 4

Open your FTP software or open the FTP dialog box in your web design program. In GoLive you'll find FTP under "File" then "Server" then "Connect to FTP ..." Other web design programs work similarly.

    • 5

Enter your FTP address, user name and password into your FTP software and connect to your web host. Click the "Upload" or "Put" button to select the files you want to post. Don't forget to upload any graphics files.

    • 6

Go to a web browser and check your domain name online. Your new page will appear. Repeat the process for any additional web pages you want to post.
