How to Clean the Format of Windows XP

Windows XP has a built-in program called Disk Management that lets you format and partition your hard drives so that you can clean off all of the data on the drives. Once you format a drive, it takes specialized software and a great deal of time to recover the data, so use extreme caution when performing a cleaning format of your drive with the tools in Windows XP.

      Click on your Start button, and click on the "Control Panel."

      Open the "Administrative Tools" section, and go into the "Computer Management" section.

      Click on "Disk Management" on the left side of the window.

      Right-click on the partition you want to format, and select the "Format" option.

      Verify that you want to format the partition by clicking "Finish."
