How to Reset a Sonicwall 4100

The SonicWALL 4100 security appliance is a firewall device that you can install on your home or business computer network for added security. It has an intrusion prevention service, anti-virus and anti-spyware capabilities, and a content filtering service. If you have lost your password for the SonicWALL 4100 security appliance, you will need to reset it to factory default settings. A reset is also useful to try when the device doesn't seem to be operating properly.

Instructions

1. Launch any terminal emulation program on a computer connected to the SonicWALL 4100 security appliance.

2. Type in the IP destination address of the SonicWALL 4100 at the terminal emulation's prompt, then type "22" for the port number.

3. Type "SSH" at the prompt, which will open a connection to the SonicWALL 4100 security appliance.

4. Type in the administrator's username at the "User" prompt.

5. Type the administrator's password at the "Password" prompt, then hit the "Enter" key.

6. Type "restore" at the command line prompt, and hit the "Return" key. This restores the factory default settings on the SonicWALL 4100.
