How to Highlight Hair With Aveda
Aveda hair color is different from other hair color in that it is non-toxic, made mostly from plant derivatives and specializes in covering up gray. Natural gray can change colors depending on hormones, and sometimes it may have a yellow or purple tint. Aveda uses tones that provide a natural match for coverage and highlights. Does this Spark an idea?

Beginning from the back of your hair, evenly separate pieces you want to highlight from those that you do not want colored. Secure the pieces you do not want colored with a hair clip.

Apply the color mix to each individual strand with a tint brush. Begin above the root and work your way down to the end of each strand. Save the root of each strand for last. Repeat this step until all of the hair you want to highlight is covered with color.

Let the color set for 30 minutes. Aveda coloring has a process that opens the cuticle and deposits color for the first 15 minutes and then lifts the color during last 15 minutes.

When the 30 minutes are up, remove the color by rinsing out the color with water. Then shampoo and condition your hair.
