How to Code a OneTouch UltraMini

The One Touch UltraMini glucose meter is much closer in size to the lancing device, right, than to the meter pictured.

Calibrating the One Touch UltraMini glucose meter with One Touch Ultra test strips is one way to ensure accurate test results. Washing hands before testing and keeping the meter clean are other ways to heighten test result accuracy. Code the meter before using it for the first time and every time you use a test strip from a new vial.

1. Check the code on the test strip vial.

2. Insert a test strip. Hold the meter display window side up.

3. Confirm the code displayed on the meter matches the code on the test strip vial. If the code on the meter display does not match the code on the test strip vial, press the up or down arrow button until it does. The code number on the display will flash for three seconds, then remain constant for three seconds. The screen will now automatically advance to display a blood drop symbol. This signals the meter is ready to conduct a blood glucose test.
