How to Obtain a CCRC
The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) is a public entity that reviews criminal convictions and sentences in Wales, England and Northern Ireland. The independent body accepts requests to review court records for errors or anything that could be considered a miscarriage of justice. If the CCRC feels the case merits appellate judicial consideration, it will refer the case to an appeals court. CCRC is not part of the court system itself, and all applicants are urged to attempt a traditional appeal before applying to CCRC.

1
Appeal your case directly to the court of appeals if convicted in crown court or appeal to the crown court if convicted in magistrate court. The CCRC will generally only accept a case if the defendant has first exhausted the traditional appeals options.
-
2
Determine that your conviction was actually a criminal offense and was within the jurisdiction of the CCRC. There is a separate CCRC for Scottish, Channel Isles and Isle of Man convictions.

3
Complete the application form. The form can be found on the CCRC website. The application will require general personal information, information about the court proceedings that lead to your conviction and what new or additional information you feel makes your case ripe for appeal. If you have no new or additional information that is relevant to the case, you must explain any exceptional circumstances that warrant appellate review.
