How do I Use Skype WiFi on a Samsung SCH-i730?
The Samsung SCH-i730 supports WiFi connections and runs Windows Mobile Pocket PC, which makes the phone a perfect candidate for installing Skype. With this application, you can have free calls and text chat to other Skype users whenever you're in a WiFi zone. Additionally, Skype can make cheap long-distance and international phone calls as long as you have credit on your account.

1
Go to the Skype website and enter your phone number into the installation menu to get the Skype program by SMS. The application will automatically install and configure itself to work on your Samsung SCH-i730.
-
2
Create a Skype account by picking a username and password and entering your e-mail address. Open the Skype application on your phone when you are in a WiFi hot spot. Select one of your contacts and click on the "Call" or "Chat" button to use Skype for free.

3
Add credit to your Skype account with the application or on Skype's website in order to make calls to non-Skype users. The rates for Skype calls and your Skype credit are completely separate from the service plan for your Samsung SCH-i730.
-
4
Download an older version of Skype if it does not automatically install via SMS. Older versions may not be available directly from the Skype website since they are unsupported. Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable and copy the Skype application to your phone or SD card to install it.

5
Install the smartphone version of Skype if you still have trouble getting the application to run. Download the files from the Skype website and copy them to your phone. Check the Samsung website for updates to the Windows Mobile OS if the smartphone version gives you errors on your SCH-i730.

Tips & Warnings
You can set your Skype preferences to automatically forward Skype calls to your phone by logging into the Skype website.
Call quality will be best in areas where your WiFi signal is three bars or higher. If you have a slow on minimal connection, then try text chat, as it uses less bandwidth.
Skype on the SCH-i730 will not work outside of WiFi zones since the phone does not support the 3G network.
Installing older versions of Skype is not supported by the company, and tech support cannot help you with troubleshooting.
