Warning

Turn off the gas and electrical supply every time you make repairs.

  1. Listen for abnormal operating sounds. The Frigidaire Affinity dryer sounds different from a standard clothes dryer. Different cycles and differing volumes of clothing in the dryer drum can cause changes in the airflow pattern within the dryer. The suspension rollers that spin the drum may also make different sounds depending on the size of the load. Gas models make noises when their solenoid opens and closes to regulate the gas flow. If you fail to hear normal noises, do further dryer troubleshooting. The problem may be a broken belt or loose idler pulley. If you have mechanical skills, you can proceed with the repair; otherwise, call a service technician.

  2. Check that the Affinity dryer has electrical power. Push the plug entirely into the wall socket. Look in the breaker box for tripped breakers on the dryer’s circuits. A dryer runs on two separate circuits. One operates the dryer’s drum; the other operates the heat source. If this doesn’t solve the problem, check the dryer’s fuse on the back of the control panel. Replace , necessary. Use an electrical test meter to make sure the heating element is working. Replace it as needed.

  3. Set the Affinity dryer to the correct cycle. For example, if you accidentally set a load of towels to air-dry, you’re not going to see the same results as if you set them for cottons.

  4. Clean the lint filter regularly. Also check that the dryer’s venting system is open. A full lint filter or clogged vent can cause the dryer to take longer to get the clothing dry. If you leave lint in the lint trap long enough, it can become a fire hazard.

  5. Latch the door securely before you start the drying cycle. If fabric catches in the door, the dryer can’t operate. Latches wear out over time and are simple to replace.
