Instructions

    • 1

Discharge the battery completely and then recharge the battery until it's fully charged. Although the iPod can charge up to 80 percent in one hour, it can take up to four hours to fully charge to 100 percent.

    • 2

Connect your iPod Touch to your computer with the Apple dock connector to USB cable to check for updates in iTunes. If iTunes detects that a newer software version is available, you will be prompted to install that version to your iPod. You should update your iPod because Apple engineers may find new ways to enhance your iPod's battery performance.

    • 3

Adjust the temperature in the room to 32 degrees to 95 degrees fahrenheit. If you have left your iPod in a temperature that is too hot or too cold, allow the iPod to sit at room temperate before waking it from sleep mode.

    • 4

Connect the iPod to the power adapter. Press and hold the "Power" button until the Apple logo appears if the iPod does not wake from sleep mode.

    • 5

Press the "Sleep/Wake" button on the iPod Touch when it's not in use. This will prevent the iPod from waking up and using power. Press "Pause" when you're done listening to music on the iPod or turn it off.

    • 6

Click "Settings," "General," "Network" and then "Wi-Fi" to turn off Wi-Fi to save power. Wi-Fi consumes your iPod's power, even when you're not using it, as it's constantly searching for an available network.

    • 7

Change the backlight feature to only be used when necessary, as "Always on" reduces the battery life. Dim the screen by tapping "Settings," selecting "Brightness" and drag the slider to the left. Turn the Auto-Brightness "On" to automatically adjust according to your lighting conditions.

    • 8

Adjust the Mail settings and Push services to fetch data at specific time increments or manually. Click "Settings," "Mail, Contacts, Calendar," "Fetch new Data" and select the option to turn off Push Mail and other applications that require the Push service.

Tips & Warnings

  • Go through at least one charge cycle per month to get the most out of your iPod touch battery.
