How to Edit With Nero 9
Nero 9 is a software suite of burning tools made for DVDs, CDs and other media. You can edit videos within Nero 9 by using the specific application Nero Vision. The editing tools are easy to use and even new users can learn to edit and place videos together. Along with basic editing, you can add transitions, music and titles to the videos.

Open the Nero Vision application. A new project will automatically begin.

Organize your files by importing them into the project. Click on the small "Folder" icon to load the files. Select multiple files by holding the mouse down and highlighting the videos. Wait a minute for Nero to process the videos and add them to the project.

Drag and drop a video file to add it to the project. There are two different views of the timeline that you can use. The basic view shows a "Storyboard" view and gives a small screenshot for each video. The expanded timeline view shows a time code and the actual length of the video.

Click on the expanded timeline view to expand the video. Click and drag the front or back of the video clip to trim the edges.

Use the "Scissors" tool to split the clip into multiple clips. Move the mouse over the part of the clip that you want to splice and click once.

Preview the edits you made at time through the preview monitor. Watching multiple previews allows you to see how your edit is coming along and is essential to making a clean cut.

Add audio to your project by clicking on the "Musical Note" icon. Select the audio files that you want to add to the project and press "OK."

Click and drag the audio file down into the "Audio 1" section of the expanded timeline. You cannot add audio to the project through the "Storyboard" view of the timeline.

Click on the "Transitions" tab to add them to the project. Transitions are split up into different sections like "Wipes," "Fades" ad "Special Effects." See a small animated preview of the transition by looking at the icon.

Drag and drop the transition between two video files. Preview the transition in the monitor to make sure a clip did not get cut off too late or too early.

Click on the "Titles" tab to add titles to the video. You can create a black title screen or use the expanded timeline view to overlay a title on a video clip. Choose the font, size and position. Use the monitor view to see how the title looks on screen.

Render the final video by clicking the "Next" icon. Select the output file type that you want to use with the video. If you are using Nero to burn a DVD, render the video in the Nero Digital video format.
