How to Color Your Hair With Koolaid
If you want to try a different hair color without the expense and permanency of standard hair dyeing products, you can do it with Kool-Aid. The tint disappears after several washes -- a good backup plan in case the color disappoints. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Kool-Aid
- Water
- Conditioner
- Petroleum jelly
- Spoon
- Protective gloves
- Plastic wrap
- Tape
Instructions
-
-
1
Apply a coating of petroleum jelly to the skin around your hairline and to your ears. This will help you to remove any Kool-Aid from your skin more easily once you're finished.
-
2
Open two to three pouches of unsweetened Kool-Aid and empty it into a bowl. Use the color Kool-Aid that matches the tint you want on your hair.
-
-
3
Add water to the Kool-Aid until you have enough moisture to form a paste with a spoon or wooden craft stick.
-
4
Squirt a few drops of hair conditioner into the paste and mix it in. This will help your hair absorb the color more evenly.
-
5
Wear rubber or plastic gloves and scoop some of the paste up into your hand.
-
6
Work the paste into your hair but not into the scalp. You achieve better results if you can have someone else apply it for you.
-
7
Wrap your hair in plastic wrap and tape it securely.
-
8
Remove the wrap after about eight hours.
-
9
Shampoo and condition your hair twice in a row.
-
10
Comb out your hair and allow it to air dry.
