How to Swap a Drive Without Formatting
Formatting your computer's hard drive is not a necessary prerequisite prior to swapping files from one drive to another, but it can help to clear out old or useless data to free up space on the volume. The alternate approach is to selectively delete files on the target drive before swapping files between the hard drive partitions on your system, enabling you to move the files as you see fit.
