How to Disable Trend Micro

Depending on which specific product you have installed, Trend Micro comes with several components, including a two-way firewall, antivirus and anti-spyware component. In some cases, you may have to temporarily disable Trend Micro if you're troubleshooting system errors or installing software that requires disabling protection software. When disabling, you can choose to disable the firewall portion only or disable all of Trend Micro's security components.

Instructions

  1. Disable Personal Firewall Only

      Double-click the red Trend Micro icon in the taskbar next to the system clock to open Trend Micro's Internet Security window.

      Click the "Personal Firewall Controls" section in the left column.

      Click the "Settings" option. Click the "Activate the Personal Firewall" box to remove the check mark.

      Click "OK." Close the Trend Micro Internet Security window.

    Disable all Trend Micro Program Components

      Right-click the red Trend Micro icon in the taskbar area next to the system clock.

      Click "Exit" from the menu options.

      Click "Yes" to the message asking you to confirm whether you want to disable the program.

Tips & Warnings

  • Restart your computer to re-enable all components of Trend Micro.
