How to Web Surf on a Cell Phone

Your phone may be able to access the Internet.

The days of requiring a computer and a modem to surf the web are very much a thing of the past. If you wish to have Internet access on the move then many phones will provide that service for you. Making the most of this new technology could open up a world of mobile information and convenience to you, as long as you are aware of the products required and how to browse the web on your phone effectively.

Instructions

1. Navigate to the "Settings" part of your phone and ensure your phone is configured for optimum web browsing. This could mean searching for nearby Wi-Fi connections or simply ensuring 3G browsing is activated.

2. Click on the Internet or Web icon on your phone to access the Internet on your phone.

3. Browse the Internet, particularly using sites which are designed for the mobile Internet. Many websites now have mobile versions, and you will find these sites are much simpler to use when browsing on your phone.

4. Download the "apps" for certain websites. You will find that sites such as Sky News, Facebook and Twitter have apps which allow you to browse their sites without accessing the Internet directly. These are available in the Apple and Android marketplaces.

Tips & Warnings

• Ensure that you choose a phone with Internet browsing capabilities. Phones from Nokia, HTC and Apple generally are equipped to browse online, but you should double-check that your choice can do this.
