You should never attempt to move your oven on your own. If you need to pull it away from the wall, seek the assistance of another able-bodied adult for help. Ovens also present a tipping hazard.

For some troubleshooting, you'll need to have the oven plugged in. However, if you are using tools of any kind or checking mechanisms and oven parts, you should unplug the appliance and turn power off at the circuit breaker before getting started.

If you have a gas oven, you may also want to turn the gas off at the entry valve to protect yourself. Familiarize yourself with signs of a gas leak before you get started, just in case.

Whirlpool Oven Won’t Light Troubleshooting

The first thing to check if your Whirlpool oven won't light is that it is correctly plugged into the outlet. If the oven is plugged in but still won't power on, it's possible that the circuit breaker has tripped. Check the circuit into which the oven is wired or plugged and see if it's properly turned on. You can also unplug the appliance, then plug it back in and wait 30 seconds to verify that it is working and restore its settings.

Provided the oven is connected to power as it should be, you should check the cord for fraying or damage. If there is any damage to the cord, you should immediately stop use of the oven and contact the manufacturer or a certified repair person.

Next, check the settings on your oven. Refer to your owner's manual to verify that there is not an issue with the settings that might prevent the oven from turning on or lighting up when instructed to do so.

Whirlpool Gas Oven Won’t Light

If your oven is gas and won't turn on, the issue may be related to the valve where gas comes into the oven. Alternatively, the issue could be due to a faulty bake igniter or bake burner tube. Appliance Blog explained to a customer that even wiping off these parts could be part of the solution to get your oven working again.

If not, you should contact the manufacturer and get assistance with the repair. Since gas ovens use a variety of parts in the ignition process, including the igniter and the glow bar, as explained by Whirlpool Parts, it may be difficult to troubleshoot the oven on your own. If, however, the igniter is not glowing when you turn the oven on, chances are good that's the issue.

You might also contact a certified repair technician in your area for assistance. It's best not to attempt complicated repairs to gas ovens on your own unless you have significant experience doing so.
