How to Unlock an Acrobat File

Adobe Acrobat is a software application that allows you to create, edit and view portable document format (PDF) files on your computer. At times, you may come across an Acrobat file that is locked behind a password. This document may be sensitive in nature or contain proprietary business information that needs to be secured. Although there are many programs that promise to "unlock" a PDF, it is highly recommended that you do not download and use them. This may be construed as stealing and could be considered illegal.

Instructions

1. Double-click the Acrobat file to open it.

2. Type the password that has been given to you by the administrator or owner of the file.

3. Click the "OK" button. The file will open if you type the password correctly.
