How to Make Your Hair Wavy With a Flat Iron

Flat irons can do much more than straighten and smooth your hair. They can also help create any degree of curls, from tight spirals to loose waves. Making your hair wavy with a flat iron is not as hard as it sounds--if you go about it the right way. Using the proper techniques and styling products is vital for creating a polished, finished look.

Things You'll Need

• Styling cream
• Blow dryer
• Paddle brush
• Flat iron
• Hairspray

Instructions

1. Apply some styling cream to your damp hair, evenly distributing a light coating from root to tip.

2. Blow dry your hair straight with a paddle brush. Brush the hair thoroughly to remove all tangles.

3. Place a two-inch section of hair in between the plates of your flat iron near the root. Clamp the iron and gently turn it at an 180 angle while you pull it through the section of hair. When you pull the iron away and free the wave, mist it with some flexible hold hairspray.

4. Repeat on other two-inch sections of hair until the style is complete. Mist the entire style with some more hairspray and shake the waves out with your fingers.
