How to Make Easy Name Bracelets

Add a dash of your personality -- and your name -- to your outfit with a name bracelet. You don't need to have a lot of jewelry-making experience or be super crafty to make a stylish piece of jewelry. You can make smaller-scale versions of your name bracelet to give to expectant mothers at baby showers as a keepsake.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure around your wrist with a tape measure. Cut a length of elastic cord that is six inches longer than your wrist.

    • 2

Lay out a string of beads that is as long as your wrist measurement. Put the letter beads to spell out your name in the center of the string, with one decorative bead between each letter and the next.

    • 3

Thread the beads onto the elastic cord. Hold one up as you thread the beads on the other so they don't fall off.

    • 4

Tie the two ends of the elastic cord together with a tight double knot. Tie them together right against the last bead on either end so the bracelet is the size of your wrist. Trim the excess elastic cord from either end.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use a crimper bead to close the bracelet rather than a knot, but the crimper may cut through the elastic cord over time. To use a crimper bead just thread the elastic cord ends through the bead in opposing directions, crimp it with needle nose pliers and trim the cord.

  • Choose decorative spacer beads and letter beads that coordinate for a visually pleasing bracelet. Spacer beads come in several varieties, such as glass, plastic and metal. Mix and match different kinds for a more varied look to your name bracelet.
