How to Fix the Computer Resolution Without Going to Properties

Display resolutions define how many pixels exist vertically or horizontally on the screen at any one time. Lower resolutions mean graphics appear "bigger" but with less image clarity because they do not make use of as many pixels to enhance display crispness. Microsoft Windows 7 offers a number of ways to alter your display's resolution. Although right-clicking your Desktop and clicking "Properties" will allow you to adjust your display resolution, you can also access this from the system's Control Panel.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Start" and then "Control Panel."

    • 2

Click "Appearance and Personalization" and then "Adjust screen resolution."

    • 3

Click the pull-down dialog next to "Resolution" and adjust the slider to your preferred display resolution. The recommended setting for your monitor will be displayed with (recommended) next to it.

    • 4

Click "Apply." Windows will attempt to switch to your new resolution.

    • 5

Click "Keep" before the timer expires, this is done to verify you can still see your screen. If you do not click "Keep" or if you press "Revert," your display settings will go back to the original setting.
