How to Upgrade an SSD in an EEE PC 900

The Asus Eee PC 900 is an entry level netbook style computer that is small and energy efficient. One of the main complaints about these computers is that they have a limited amount of storage. All these model netbooks come pre-installed with 20 GB Solid State Drives (SSDs). A popular upgrade for owners to perform is increasing the size of the drive. It is a simple way to dramatically increase the lifespan and storage capacity of the computer.

Things You'll Need

• Larger SSD
• Small Phillips screwdriver
• USB CD/DVD Drive

Instructions

1. Power the computer down, unplug it and remove the battery.

2. Unscrew the panel that covers the drive and memory slot using the Phillips screwdriver. This cover has four screws and is directly below the battery.

3. Unscrew the SSD and replace it with the new one.

4. Replace the cover and battery.

5. Reinstall your operating system. This will require a Microsoft Windows CD and a USB CD/DVD Drive.
