How to Fix Blurred Pictures

How to Fix Blurred Pictures thumbnail
Sharpen a blurred picture with editing software.

Photographers often blur images to give them a sense of movement or an artistic edge. But the last thing that's needed is a blurred appearance if the subject of the photograph is supposed to be still. Digital-editing software is an option that can reduce the appearance of the blur.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the blurred images with a digital-editing software such as Adobe Lightroom, iPhoto or Picasa.

    • 2

Select one photo to edit. Find the tool panel and look for basic editing tools.

    • 3

Increase the clarity or sharpness of the photo. The wording varies based on the program you are using. The sharpness tool usually has plus/minus buttons or a slider that increases or decreases the sharpness. Increase the sharpness but don't push it too far or the image will begin to look grainy or jagged.

    • 4

Locate the contrast adjuster tool. Increase the contrast of the image to add more definition between the lines. Be careful not to increase this too much because it adds black to the photo and can darken it significantly.
