Instructions for the TV Guardian

The TV Guardian's purpose is to censor inappropriate language from a TV show so that it is not heard. Setting up the TV Guardian is a straightforward procedure that must be followed exactly or it will not function correctly. The procedure requires the use of an audio/video cable; this can be found in most homes already but can also be purchased at very little cost from a computer or electronics store. The TV Guardian can be deactivated at any time should you no longer wish to censor the inappropriate content.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the TV Guardian model you have purchased next to your TV. Plug the power cord into a wall socket for power.

    • 2

Remove the audio/video cable that is going into one of the video inputs on the TV--for example, the audio/video cable that is coming from a cable box or satellite receiver. Plug this cable into the appropriate video input on the TV Guardian, for example, the "HDMI" video input if it is a HDMI cable carrying both video and audio to the TV.

    • 3

Plug one end of an audio/video cable into the connection that was just vacated on the TV, for example, one end of a HDMI cable going into a HDMI connection. Plug the other end of the audio/video cable into the appropriate video output on the TV Guardian, for example, the HDMI video output if it is a HDMI cable being used.

    • 4

Turn on the TV. Press the "Menu" button on the TV Guardian's remote control. Go to "Settings." Select "Video input." Choose "HDMI" from the list of choices presented beneath "Video input." Go back to "Settings."

Select "Video output." Choose "HDMI" from the list of choices presented beneath "Video output." Go back to "Settings." Select "Options." Select "Closed captioning" from the list of choices presented beneath "Options." Go back to "Settings." Press the "Menu" button on the TV Guardian's remote control.

    • 6

Turn on the TV Guardian. Press the "Menu" button on the TV Guardian's remote control. Select "Settings." Select "Filters" from beneath "Settings." Select one of the filters from the list provided beneath "Filters"--for example, "Moderate" or "Strict." Press "Menu" on the remote.

    • 7

Press the "Audience Setting" button on the remote to cycle between "Kids," "Family," "Parents" and "Other." Select one of these levels of censorship control.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not turn the TV Guardian off before you have turned off the TV--in fact, you might want to leave it on all the time, the same as you would a cable box or satellite receiver.
