The Windows XP operating system has an update application that allows you update the software on your computer. The Windows Update software relies on the ability to connect to the Internet for the software updates to download from Microsoft. When there is little or no connectivity to the Internet, the software will not be able to download properly or at all. Fixing your connection is not very hard and will only require a couple of minutes.

      Go to the Resources of this section and download the "Microsoft Patch" for Windows XP.

      Save the file to your computer and then double-click on it to run the software.

      Run the update on your system to fix the error.

      Open "Notepad" on your "Start" menu and type "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\IPSec]

      "AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule"=dword:00000002" into the notepad. Save the file as "FixReg.reg" on your computer's desktop.

      Double-click on the file to install it on your system's registry.

      Reboot your computer from the "Start" menu.
