How to Detoxify in 24 Hours

Detoxifying is the process of removing toxins and harmful chemicals that build up in the body from day-to-day eating and drinking. No matter how healthy you think you are, you never get rid of certain substances unless you detoxify. Ideally, this process is done gradually and over a few weeks or a month, but if you do not have the time for a full detox, you can use the one-day method and feel rejuvenated and toxin free.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 pounds of spinach
  • 2 pounds of ruccola or arugula
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • 1 bunch of fresh coriander
  • Bottled or filtered water
  • Coffee or tea (fresh ground with caffeine)
  • Coffee or tea maker
  • Food processor or blender
  • Timer
  • Body brush
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Gentle liquid soap

Instructions

      Wash all vegetables and herbs in a colander under cold water. Divide the mixed vegetables into 18 bunches of about 4 oz. for each bunch.

      Blend or process a batch of the greens every hour with enough water to make it drinkable. Set a timer to remind you that it is time to take the next drink.

      Set up your coffee or tea maker to make 3 cups of coffee. If you do not have a timer on your coffee maker, make one cup at a time.

      Drink the first cup of coffee or tea right after you wake up in the morning. Have the first glass of mixed greens, drink an hour after and continue drinking the vegetable drink until lunch.

      Drink the second cup of coffee or tea at about midday. You may add a little milk and sugar if necessary. You may drink unlimited herbal tea during the day.

      Make the last cup of coffee no later than 5 p.m. so it does not keep you from sleeping. Try to wake a little earlier for the detoxification so that you do not have to stay awake late to finish it.

      Finish the last cup of the greens drink at least an hour before going to bed. You will find yourself using the bathroom quite a bit, and if you do not want it to disturb your sleep, it is a good idea to finish at least an hour before bedtime.

      Prepare for a shower by brushing your body with a body brush. While still dry, brush your feet, the front and then the back of the legs. Use an upward stroke and be gentle; you should see dead skin cells slough away. Continue up your body, brushing you buttocks, lower back and the upper back and shoulders.

      Brush the front of the arms and under you arms, brushing toward the underarm area.

      Brush the front of your body starting with the front of your arms downward. Do your chest and tummy in circular strokes. Take a shower using a loofah sponge and a mild soap using hot water.

      Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner and rinse when you are done with cold water.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is best to do detoxify when you are home the whole day because you will need to be near a bathroom all day.

  • Never detoxify without the approval of your doctor.
