Back up your phone book to your BlackBerry's SIM card by copying entries.

If your BlackBerry is designed to operate on GSM networks, it uses a SIM card to store your subscriber information. You can also store phone contacts on the SIM card--making it easy to move your address book to a new device. Storing contacts on the SIM also ensures they are backed up. You can copy existing contacts from your BlackBerry's internal memory to the SIM phone book in a few easy steps. New contacts you enter can also be saved directly to the SIM card if desired.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the BlackBerry "Menu" button and select the "Contacts" icon to open your phone book.

    • 2

Use your trackball or trackpad to scroll to an entry you wish to move to your SIM card. Press the "Menu" key.

    • 3

Select "Copy to SIM Phone Book," then press the "Menu" key. Choose "Save." Repeat for each contact you wish to copy to your SIM phone book. To enter a new contact entry to your SIM phone book, continue to Step 4.

Tips & Warnings

  • Existing contacts must be copied individually to the SIM.

  • Your phone's ability to store phone book information on the SIM card is determined by your wireless carrier. Your carrier might not have this feature available.
