How to Make Christian Friends

Making new Christian friends isn't hard if you know where to look.

The Christian walk is a challenging one. It is important to have friends of the same faith so that you can encourage each other in tough times, and celebrate with each other when times are good. If you are a new Christian, however, you may not be sure how to find Christian friends. Fortunately, there are several avenues you can take to find and develop lifelong friendships.

• Computer with Internet access

Instructions

1. Attend a Christian church in your area. Most churches have a time of fellowship following their church services. You can grab a cup of coffee and a donut and introduce yourself to the church members. Beginning conversation is the best way to find things you may have in common with another person, and begin to form a bond that can lead to friendship.

2. Join one of the churches' small group Bible studies or committees. You can choose a group that relates to you to find a friend with a similar interest or background. For example, some churches have small groups for teens. Others have small groups for single moms. If you are a single mom then you are likely to make some new friends within the single mom small group. You can do the same with a committee. If you have a heart for missions, join the missions committee.

3. Set up a profile on the networking site Your Christian Space (see Resources). Once your profile is complete, you can begin requesting friends by searching through the directory page, or the group page. It is best to seek out individuals with similar interests so that you will have friends who will enjoy hanging out with you while engaging in those interests.

4. Join HolyPal. HolyPal is a social network for Christians. All of the members on HolyPal are actively seeking friends and other Christians to connect with which makes the site a great tool for finding new Christian friends.

Tips & Warnings

• Pray to God and ask Him to bring you some Christian friends. This is a Biblical request and one God is sure to answer.

• Not everyone who says they are a Christian really is. Make sure you take the time to get to know the individual, and how they live before you decide to become friends.
