How to Replace the Fuses for Ford F-150 A/C
The various circuits and components that make up the electrical system of every motor vehicle are protected from high-voltage surges by panels of fuses. The primary fuse panel is typically installed somewhere on or under the instrument panel on the dashboard. Replacing the fuses that control the air conditioner (A/C) in your Ford F-150 pickup is a fairly straightforward task to perform, provided you have the proper documentation and two common tools.

- 2 red 10-amp mini-spade fuses
- Automotive fuse puller

Consult your owner's guide to determine the location of the fuse panel. As an example, on a 2005 Ford F-150, the interior fuse panel is under the right side of the instrument panel.

Determine the amperage, color, type and panel location of the fuses protecting the A/C system, using your owner's guide. For the 2005 F-150, you will need two red 10-amp mini-spade fuses, which are located in positions 11 and 14. Mini-spade fuses can be purchased at most auto parts stores.

Locate the fuse panel and remove the cover.

Locate fuse positions 11 and 14, using the flashlight to illuminate the panel.

Slide the jaws of the plastic fuse puller around the top edge of the 10-amp fuse in position 11. Pull the fuse straight back and out of the panel.

Slide the jaws of the fuse puller around the top edge of a new 10-amp fuse. Insert the contacts into the corresponding openings in the fuse panel. Once the fuse is initially seated, press it in tightly with the tip of your finger.

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to replace the 10-amp fuse located in position 14.

Replace the fuse panel cover.
