Instructions

    • 1

Purchase card stock on which to print your tea party invitations. Use an understated color like ivory or cream. Choose a color that will not overpower the design.

    • 2

Design the invitations using a desktop publisher, such as Microsoft Publisher. Select “Invitations” from Publication Types in Publication Types. Customize tea party invitations in the design template.

    • 3

Add or create your own delicate color scheme. Select pastel colors without vivid hues. Upload an image to draw attention. Save an image to your computer from the Internet if you don't have an appropriate one available. Insert, for example, a hummingbird in flight on a summer day.

    • 4

Select an appropriate font and color. Use a script font, such as Lucida Handwriting. Choose black or blue for ink color.

    • 5

Extend the invitation. Use verbiage recalling the type of event you hope to hold. Pull together the important elements of the tea party in your invitation wording. Write, for instance, "Malin Dougherty cordially invites you to tea at the Brown Palace Hotel Traditional Afternoon Tea on Tuesday, June Fourteenth, at 1:00 o’clock. RSVP."

    • 6

Save your design. Print from Publisher’s Print function.
