How to Remove a Buick Dome Light

by Leonardo R. Grabkowski

Dome lights provide lighting to your car's interior. They are usually mounted behind a circular plastic cover, hence the name "dome light." However, some newer dome lights have a slightly different design. The dome light in your Buick should be easy to remove, whether you have a Century, Lesabre, Lacrosse or any other Buick model.

Step 1

Examine your dome light carefully to determine if you'll need any tools. Different Buick models have different dome lights. Most are attached by internal clips, but some are attached with screws.

Step 2

Grasp the outer cover of the dome and simultaneously insert a small flat head screwdriver into the edge to pry it off. If the dome light has screws, you'll need to remove them first.

Step 3

Set the plastic cover aside. Grasp the dome light bulb and pull it out of its mount. Dome light bulbs do not have standard sockets, so you don't need to twist it.

Step 4

Replace the bulb with a new one (if desired) and reattach the cover. To reattach the cover, position it in place and push it up to engage the clips. If it has screws, reinstall them.
