Instructions for Scrabble Tile Jewelry
Recycling items that would otherwise end up in the trash is a creative way to save money on craft supplies as well as on jewelry. Turn a set of Scrabble tiles with a few tiles missing into whimsical pieces of jewelry with some decorative scrapbook paper and other supplies you can pick up at the craft store. Make the jewelry for yourself or to give as gifts.

1
Place the Scrabble tile on top of the decorative paper over the part you want to appear on your jewelry. Trace the outline of the tile with a craft knife to cut a piece of paper to the same size as the tile.
-
2
Spread a thin coat of decoupage medium over the back of the tile with a small paintbrush. Place the piece of paper, decorative side up, on the decoupage medium-covered side of the tile. Smooth out any air bubbles out from between the paper and tile with your fingers. Paint another layer of decoupage over the top of the paper-covered side to seal the paper to the tile. Let the tile dry for at least two hours, or until it's completely dry.

3
Spread the clear craft sealant over the top of the paper-covered side of the tile. Draw a border of sealant around the top of the tile and then fill in the middle using the nozzle tip of the bottle. Let the sealant cure for 3 days before continuing.

4
Super glue the Scrabble tile to a ring blank (ring), bail (necklace), pin back (pin) or two of them to earring posts (earrings) to finish your jewelry.
