How to Print Packing Slips

If you run a business that ships products to your customers then you must include a packing slip with your shipment. Packing slips are the documents that accompany a shipment that detail the contents of the shipment, the number of items in the shipment, the price of each item and the order number. The shipping company uses the packing slip to ensure that all of the necessary items ship and are received intact. If you do not have a standard packing slip, you can print your own using word processing software.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a header for your packing slip. The header contains your company name, any slogan your company may have and any icons or graphics that your company uses. Also include your company's address, phone number, fax number, website address and email address.

    • 2

Add the shipping and billing addresses of your customer. In many cases these are the same address, but in the event that you have a customer with a different billing address from the shipping address, you must have an area to list them both.

    • 3

State the information about the order. Include the order number, the date that the order was placed, the customer's account number and any other particular information that identifies the order for your customer.

    • 4

Create a table to enter the product information. The table will have six titled columns and at least 10 rows to adequately describe the shipment. There must be a column for "Product Name," "Product Number," "Product Description," "Price," "Quantity Ordered" and "Quantity Shipped." This will allow the customer what is in the box, if the shipment is complete or if he should expect another one.

    • 5

State the total price of the shipment for the customer. Individually list the price of the items, any applicable taxes, shipping fees and any additional fees then add them for a total price to the customer.

    • 6

Include an area for additional notes to your customer. You must have a space to provide any additional notes or instructions to your customer, such as when the remainder of the shipment will be sent or if there are any steps the customer must take to update his account.
