How to Update Verizon Phones for New Towers

"Update Your Roaming Capabilities" will search the network for new Verizon towers.

We live in a mobile society always going from here to there and back again. Sometimes we travel to other locations and our phones pick up "The Other Guy's" network. This can cause unnecessary charges to our phone bill or nuisance dropped calls. Verizon has a great feature to make sure you stay in its network. "Update Your Roaming Capabilities" will make your phone go out and search the network for new Verizon towers.

Instructions

1. Enter *228 on your Verizon phone and press "Send." The screen will display "Programming In Progress."

2. Listen to the message and when prompted, press the 2 key to "Update your roaming capabilities."

3. Wait until you hear the message, "Your roaming capabilities have been updated successfully." The display will change to, "Programming Successful!" Press any key to continue.

Tips & Warnings

• Updating your roaming capabilities should not take longer than one minute, though Verizon says it could take up to 2 minutes.
