Do-it-Yourself Easter Bunny Costume

1
Cut cardboard into two bunny-ear shapes. Trace each cardboard ear onto white felt and cut two felt pieces for each ear. Coat one side of each piece of felt with white glue and adhere the felt to the cardboard cutouts on both sides. Cut out two smaller pieces of pink felt for the inside of the ears and glue one to the front of each ear. Dry completely, then use a hot glue gun to attach the ears to a headband.

Cut an egg cup from an egg carton with scissors so that you have just the small cardboard or foam dome shape. Draw a round nose on the top of the dome, or glue on a pom pom for the nose. Poke three holes on each side of the egg cup "snout" with a pencil and insert a pipe cleaner into each. Cut two small rectangles out of white cardboard or paper and glue to the underside to resemble teeth. Poke a fourth hole on each side, near the base. Tie a string to each hole, using the ends to tie the snout to the wearer's face, covering the nose.

Glue polyester batting to a white foam ball to make the tail. Batting is the white, fluffy pillow fill; pull it into into small pieces and glue each onto the ball one at a time, until it's covered and resembles a fluffy rabbit tail. Dry completely. Form a loop on one end of a 3-inch piece of wire and stick it into the foam ball, securing with glue. When dry, loop the wire through a safety pin and pin to the rear.

Cut 4-inch wide, 36-inch long strips of tulle to make an optional tutu. Tie a piece of sewing elastic around the costume wearer's waist to ensure that it will fit. Tie each piece of tulle to the elastic by making a loop in the middle of each strip by folding it, pulling the loop over the elastic and pulling the ends through to create a knot. The more pieces of tulle you tie on, the fuller the tutu will be. The bunny tail can be attached to the waistband in the back, if desired.
