Microsoft Office Picture Manager, part of the Microsoft Office Suite of software, is a photo-editing application. Picture Manager allows you to to adjust photo quality attributes like color, brightness and contrast, and to add text to images. Microsoft offers a free trial of the Office software--as well as the ability to purchase it--on its website. Picture Manager is not available as a stand-alone application.

      Go to the Microsoft Office website. Choose the appropriate location and language. Double-click on the "Download a trial" offer.

      Select the green "Try it now" option to download a free trial. To purchase a full version, select the link that says "or buy it now."

      Enter your Windows Live ID or create a new account to continue. Enter the information on the "Tell us about yourself" screen. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

      Record the product key that will be displayed on the screen. You will need to enter this information during the installation in order to activate the downloaded software. A valid product key is required for both the free trial and the paid versions of the software.

      Click "Install Now."

      Follow on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

      Access Picture Manager in the "Start" menu by selecting "Programs," then "Microsoft Office," then "Picture Manager."
